Sam met AJ Quarrell growing up in Port Campbell. With Port Campbell being a small town and both having an interest in surfing they crossed paths numerous times.
During their teens Sam left Port Campbell to pursue his career and AJ began diving for abalone under his father. 20yrs on Sam is back in Port Campbell as a chef cooking the abalone that AJ forages from the Southern Ocean.
AJ is the owner/diver of Great Ocean Abalone, which is a family run business. They are as passionate about sustainability as we are, hand picking abalone from sustainable reefs collecting small weights at a time to ensure the continuation of abalone colonies in the area.
Our abalone dish is sort after by many diners as it is quite a delicacy and a rear opportunity to eat wild abalone delivered straight from the diver while overlooking the very ocean it is foraged from.
