Summerfield Wines

While walking around the Grape Escape Food and Wine Festival in the picturesque Halls Gap, Brad the Summerfield wine rep got our attention with his quick wit, grand knowledge and love for the wines he was selling.

During the tasting of the wines I fell in love with every single one and learnt so much about the wine making process and types of grapes. After our first purchase we declared we’d be back next year. Sure enough true to our word we fronted up the next year for the whole weekend. The Summerfield tent was a must visit with the memory of how the delicious their bold reds were.

To our surprise Brad was there again and remembered us or at least it was a good guess, regardless we again tasted and loved every wine on offer. It was this weekend we meet Mark Summerfield a very friendly man proudly speaking of his vineyard and family. Over the years we have met Marks wife Masako and their children as well as learning and tasting each vintage of their minimal intervention handcrafted wines.

We chose to put Summerfield wines on our menu to not only to complement our dishes but because of the strong passion Mark portrays for wine making and the connection to his family. Like us Summerfield wines is a family business Mark has named three bottles of wine after his children, Sahsah, Saieh and Taiyo all of which have been highly regarded by James Halliday.

You can find the Summerfield winery and accommodation in the heart of the Pyrenees, Moonambel, Victoria for more information please check out their website.
